Shahrizat Rashid & Lee was formed as a result of a merger of the firms Rashid & Lee and Shahrizat & Tan in July 2003. Following the merger, the firm has, in addition to its main office in Kuala Lumpur, branches in Penang and Johor Bahru in the north and south of West Malaysia respectively.
Rashid & Lee was established in 1964 under the name "Ariffin & Ooi" and assumed its later name in 1984. The firm began as a general practice and evolved into an established firm actively involved in specific practice areas ranging from privatisations, telecommunications, mergers and acquisitions, oil and gas, information technology and intellectual property to capital markets, structured finance, arbitration and corporate litigation. The Firm has been principal advisers in respect of infrastructure projects of national importance including the North South Highway and LRT System2 in Kuala Lumpur.
Shahrizat & Tan was established in 1993 as a general practice providing services in the areas of general corporate, commercial and banking law including Islamic banking and litigation. They have extensive experience in providing advisory services to financial institutions and drafting documentation to innovative and novel banking instruments. On the litigation front, they have been involved in banking and insolvency work, arbitration, commercial litigation and defamation.
